For such an arduous process, our stone litho project came out very well!
Group project with 2 other fellow students. This is grease pencil on stone, before the acid etching begins. I started work a few months ago on a new astartes chapter (I haven't done marines since my iron wolves many years ago), and wanted to do some heavy conversions, fully wysiwyg, and fairly accurate to descriptions in FW's badab fluff. I started with chapter master Stibor Laezarek, the old crotchety, barely alive lord of the fire hawks chapter. The project had a bit of a lull, stibor half finished, until last week, when FW released chapter rules and updated character rules! I had to get on this now, so many cool conversion ideas, and the rules are pretty potent. Elam Courbrey, the 8th company captain has awesome sauce rules, his "Firefall" warlord trait is just too fun to imagine using, so out came the bitz box, and I got chopping! I designed Elam to be totally wysiwyg, including a retracting knight's helmet, worn like romantic portraits of old knights. Brandishing "excellus" courbray is a pretty fun captain, and, with firehawks chapter tactics allowing vanguard to score, can make a mean assault marine squad even meaner with his homer-beacon-like Firefall blast. On Elam's Jump pack, you can see his Firefall device, a mid-air dispersion launcher, which, before Fully dropping from thunder hawk to the battle below, he can activate to Saturate the field below with explosive bomblets. On his front armor, he has a enhanced box unit to bring the enemy to their knees with an enhanced astartes battle cry. |
